"Attention to detail" is the mantra that we speak here at MaxEquations. We concentrate greatly on the overall quality of our products, from our fabrics down to the smallest detail of our sewing. Our company is small which gives us the ability to oversee every aspect of our production. We produce our clothing in a small local factory and individually by our own seamstress and pattern maker, Linda Snyder. Our garments, of course, begin with the fabrics. We purchase top quality Certified Organic Cottons and other natural fibers. Wherever possible our first choice is fabric "Grown and Sewn in the USA" helping to support many small family owned farms.
Next, are our patterns, which are carefully created by Linda to realize Eve’s designs. We pay particular attention to our consistency of our sizing. There’s nothing more annoying than having to change the size that you order based on inconsistencies from collection to collection. Our sizing is standardized, so if you wear a Medium in one Top, you will wear a Medium in every other Top as well. Our Bust measurements never change, the only differences are in the length and bottom opening measurements as the style dictates. We even make our layering pieces, Vests and Over Pieces 2 inches larger, knowing that you will be wearing it over a Top. Jackets and Coats are made larger as well to accommodate the under layers. Similar size standards are found in our other styles; like Pants and Skirts.
We create our garments with attention to the detail of the fabric itself. Careful attention is paid to lay the paper patterns straight on the fabric’s weave so you’ll never have a garment that just doesn’t lay right on your body. This is called "torque" in the industry, and you know it when you have a garment like that. A torqued garment just never seems to hang on you correctly. Standard sewing features are cover-stitched hems and finished (or edge stitched) seams. Many garments (woven fabrics mostly) feature single needle top stitching throughout, a mark of quality construction. Our sewing has been compared to Couture level sewing, which is not surprising as our standards have been set by Linda whose earliest training began in the Bridal and Special Occasion industry.
Top quality notions are used from industrial strength elastics for waistbands that won’t dry rot to strong Cotton threads that will hold throughout multiple washes. We select our buttons from our vast resources of natural Corozo Nut buttons to hand selected Vintage or Handmade Ceramics that will enhance the finished product and we make sure that they are well sewn on.
Many questions are asked of us regarding our use of garment dyes as well as mill dyed fabrics. For most of our collections we use "prepared for garment dye" fabrics, meaning the fabric comes in natural and can be dyed to order in any of our collection colors. Other times we may have the opportunity to use "mill dyed" fabrics. Then rolls of colored fabrics arrive, with which we create outfits. There are advantages of both types of fabrics and we use both as the item (or collection) warrants.
Garment dyeing allows us the opportunity to create our own unique color palettes that complement the season. These garment dyes are commercially prepared and depending on the color, may occasionally bleed. This is actually a good sign of a deeply saturated color and is perfectly normal. This bleeding will not alter your painted image in any way, and will occur evenly over the garment. Please see our Care Instructions for more information about how to care for your garment dyed items.
Mill dyed fabrics are generally more fade resistant (of course, depending on your wash and dry methods) and the colors are consistent across different bolts of fabric. Of course, we are limited to what colors these fabrics are offered in as quantities needed to Mill Dye our own colors are very high. One of the benefits of Mill dyed Fabrics that we do like to use when available is in the Pitch Black color that is more difficult for us to achieve in garment dye. When these Pitch Black fabrics are offered in any of our collections, they are very much worth ordering.
All garments are pre-shrunk so you don’t have to worry about shrinkage. The art if you choose for your garments to be painted is created with long lasting acrylic paints. Please see our Care Instructions for more information on how to wash and dry these items.
We our very proud of our quality standards and all of the attention to the details that make our garments. If you are happy with our products please spread the word and tell a friend. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with anything on your garment, please tell us.
